What is a Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN)?
Every student who applies for a Commonwealth supported place or a FEE-HELP or SA-HELP loan is automatically allocated a Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN). This number is used by the Commonwealth Government to track the use of Commonwealth assistance. Your CHESSN appears on your Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN).
Your CHESSN will enable you to view details of your Commonwealth assisted study including any HELP debts you have incurred.
For further information regarding any debts you have incurred and have been reported to the government, please visit the Study Assist website, select myUniAssist, and login by entering your CHESSN.
