Providing your previous study details

How do I provide my academic transcript when applying to the University of Melbourne?

As part of the University of Melbourne application process, you will be required to provide evidence of your results by supplying your academic transcript. You must provide detailed information on all tertiary programs (both undergraduate and postgraduate) which you have attempted or completed, including studies currently being undertaken or incomplete degrees. This information should be entered into the 'Previous Study Details' section during the application process.

The method of providing this documentation will depend on which country you completed your previous study in and whether you are a domestic or international applicant.

Applicants who have studied at the University of Melbourne

Current or former students of the University do not need to provide evidence for study undertaken at the University of Melbourne. If you completed study as an institution which has been amalgamated with the University of Melbourne you should still upload of a copy of your academic transcripts.

Applicants who have studied in Australia or New Zealand

When applying to the University of Melbourne, you will be asked how you would like to provide your transcript. You can do this via My eQuals  an online system that allows students from Australian and New Zealand universities to access and share electronic transcripts and graduation documents, removing the need for transcripts to be verified. This is the preferred method as it has a faster turnaround time.

How do I use My eQuals?

During the application process, you will be asked if you have completed study outside the University of Melbourne. Select 'Yes'. You will then be asked to indicate how you would like to provide your transcript:

  • My eQuals: Applicable for students of Australia and New Zealand
  • CSSD (only applicable for international applicants who studied in China)
  • Upload
After you have selected My eQuals, you will be asked to provide the link to your qualifications. You can generate this link through your My eQuals account by clicking the 'share' button next to your existing documents. Please do not send your documents via the My eQuals portal. When generating a link to provide to the University, please ensure the following link-sharing settings:
  • Recipient: Open access
  • Access PIN: None
  • Expiry: Does not expire

Learn more about My eQuals by reading their FAQ for students. More information on how to set up your My eQuals account is available on the Help page.

What if My eQuals is not working?

If you are unable to share your documents via My eQuals, navigate back the question 'Please indicate how you like to provide your transcript' and choose 'Upload'. You will then be able to upload. This turnaround time may be longer than My eQuals or CHESICC.

International applicants who have studied in Pakistan

International graduate applicants who have studied in Pakistan are required to apply through one of our authorised education agents so that transcripts can be verified. Undergraduate or domestic applicants will have transcripts verified through other methods. Find an authorised education agent.

International applicants who have studied in China

International applicants who studied in China can either apply through an authorised overseas education agent or share their academic transcripts using the centre for Student Services and Development (CSSD). CSSD (formerly known as CHESICC) is an authoritative institution under the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE). Please note that, it may take up to 30 days for transcripts to be provided through CSSD.

To ensure the University has access to your tertiary education reports, please note you will need to arrange for them to be delivered to us via My eQuals. Please refer to the following instructions:

  • When your report(s) are ready, log into the CHSI website and click the 'International Cooperative Application' button. Select the University of Melbourne from the drop-down list and enter your payment details.
  • Once your payment has been confirmed, you may select the report(s) you wish to send to the University. Please enter your personal details and list 'My eQuals' under the 'International Cooperation Agencies'.
  • Select 'Deliver'. Your transmission status will be shown on the screen, and CSSD will notify you by instant message when your report(s) have been delivered to the University.
