How do I reset my password or confirm my username for my.unimelb and my University email?

If you need to reset your password while you are studying at the University, you can do so at the Account Management Website.

If you have forgotten your password, click Forgot Password to receive a temporary password. You will then need to login at Reset Password using the temporary password given to you to set a new password

As a new student, if you still need to create your account, click Create Account

To ensure that your University account remains secure, you will need to provide the following details:

  • Name
  • Student ID
  • Date of birth
  • Postcode - only if your 'preferred' address in your application or in my.unimelb is four digits (e.g. 3010)

Your student username will be displayed in a list of your University accounts. To reset your password, press the 'Reset' button next to the relevant account name. Ensure your new password meets the requirements on the right-hand side of the page.

Please note, your username cannot be changed as it is a reflection of your name.

A username is different to an email alias; the username does not contain a full stop. For example, "j.bloggs" would be a student's email alias, not the username.
