Public Transport Victoria ISTP refunds

How can I get a refund for an ISTP?

There are two options to obtain a refund for an International Student Travel Pass (ISTP):

  1. Obtain a refund based on the number of balance days remaining after the last day of the card used (touched on to travel).

Please note: the pass will be deactivated and cannot be used for travel once a refund request has been submitted.

If fewer than 40 balance days remain on your 365-day ISTP, no refund will be issued. This is because when you purchase a 365-day pass, you only pay for 325 days with an additional 40 days provided for free. To check your remaining balance days and any myki Money, tap your card at a card vending machine or call the PTV Call Centre at 1800 800 007.

How to apply

Submit an ISTP Refund request form with the following attached documents:

  • Completed Student Reimbursement Request form, including your bank account details for payment
  • A photo of the back of the myki card (where your photo and details are) that you purchased with your ISTP.

Upon receiving your request, the University will contact PTV to confirm the refund amount and organise to transfer the amount to the bank account supplied. Check your University email account for correspondence about your refund request.

You can return your myki card to Stop 1 Parkville for secure disposal or post it directly to:

International Student Travel Pass
Public Transport Victoria
PO Box 4724
Melbourne VIC 3001

If you purchase a new ISTP later, you will need to register a new ISTP account as new passes cannot be added to the deactivated myki card.

  1. Apply for reimbursement for unused portions of pass. The pass can still be used after this reimbursement.

Please apply for a reimbursement by either calling the PTV Call Centre on 1800 800 007 or by applying online at the PTV myki refund or reimburse page.
