Go back a stepFailing more than once
What happens if I fail a subject more than once?
In general, you should avoid repeating a subject unless it is core/compulsory, or necessary to the progression of your course (such as a prerequisite for your chosen major).
Failing a non-core/non-compulsory subject for a third time may cause your academic status to change from “good standing” to that of unsatisfactory progress.
Failing a core or compulsory subject for the first time will cause your academic status to change from “good standing” to that of “at risk”. With an “at risk” status, failing the same core/compulsory subject again may cause your academic status to change to that of unsatisfactory academic progress.
Should you make unsatisfactory academic progress, your enrolment may be sanctioned preventing you from modifying your study plan and you may be required to meet with a Course Academic Progress Committee (CAPC) to discuss your options.
Note that certain graduate courses have a one-fail policy.
