Exchange/study abroad study plan statuses

What does the status on my exchange/study abroad study plan mean?

Once you have applied for exchange or study abroad, you must create a study plan and submit it for approval. There are two types of statuses that apply to your study plan submission:

  • Plan status which applies to your overall study plan
  • Subject status which applies to an individual subject on your study plan

The plan and subject statuses will change as your study plan is processed.

Plan Statuses:

The following statuses may apply to your overall study plan:

Plan Status Definition
Submitted for Approval Your subjects have been submitted for assessment.
Under Academic Review Your subjects are in the process of being assessed by the relevant discipline advisor(s).
Under Stop 1 Review Your study plan is being reviewed to make sure that your approved subjects fit in with your University of Melbourne degree requirements.
Approved The indicated subjects will fit in with your University of Melbourne degree.
Conditionally Approved The indicated subjects are only suitable if you satisfy certain requirements made by Stop 1 such as taking only elective subjects on exchange, completing a core subject before you go or making sure you have a certain number of points available.
Not Approved Some aspect of your plan does not meet some the requirements of your University of Melbourne degree.
Finalised Your plan will be finalised when you have arrived at your host institution and you have confirmed which of the approved subjects you have enrolled in, and have committed to those subjects.

Subject Statuses:

The following statuses may apply to an individual subject on your study plan:

Subject status Definition
Submitted for Review The subject has been submitted for assessment.
Recommended for Credit The subject has been judged suitable for credit to a University of Melbourne degree as a core, elective or breadth subject; note that it may still not be suitable for your degree which is determined when your plan status is under Stop 1 review.
Not Recommended for Credit The subject has been deemed inappropriate for credit to a University of Melbourne degree.
Information Required Further information is required before a decision can be made about the suitability of the subject, such as a syllabus or assessment details.
Recommended for credit, but not for this student The subject is suitable for credit to a University of Melbourne degree, but not in your case. It may be that you have already done a subject which overlaps too much with the content of this subject, for example.
Recommended for credit only for this student The subject is judged suitable for credit but only in your circumstances.
Committed Once you are overseas at the host institution and you have enrolled into the subjects that have been recommended for credit, you must indicate which subjects by committing to them.
