Can I return to complete my Master of Teaching final 50 points after having exited with a Graduate Diploma in Teaching?
Master of Teaching (Secondary) and Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) students who exited with a Graduate Diploma in Teaching are eligible to return within ten years and complete the final 50 points of their course and qualify for the Masters.
Professional Development option
MTeach (Secondary):
Two elective subjects, and the capstones EDUC91015 Professional Learning Capstone.
MTeach (Early Childhood):
Your subject selections may vary depending on the year you exited with your Graduate Diploma. Please contact education-help@unimelb.edu.au for more information before filling out the form.

Research option
A grade average of at least 75% in the Graduate Diploma in Teaching is required to be eligible to undertake this option.
The final 50 points may be undertaken part time and can be commenced either start-year or mid-year.
With permission, and depending on subject choice, the Professional Development option may be completed online.

Details of these subjects and their availability periods will be made available upon release of the 2021 University Handbook.
Students enrolling in the Research Option are not required to organise a supervisor or have a research proposal before enrolling in the final 50 points. Students will develop a research proposal with guidance from a supervisor as part of the methodology subject, EDUC90419.
Students who exited with a Graduate Diploma in Teaching before July 1, 2016 are not required to complete the test. Students who exited with a Graduate Diploma in Teaching after 1 July 2016 or later will have completed the test before having exited with the Graduate Diploma in Teaching.
